In some of the roads of southern Chile and Argentina, bikers live simply inclined. In the roadhouse of Cerro Sombrero, near the Strait of Magellan in Chilean Tierra del Fuego, Jaime, mechanic Motoaventura I had as he had seen him fall an entire group of 11 bikes one after the other, in standstill (KTM 990 Adventure and BMW R1200GS and F800GS). Helplessly.

Later in the passage of the Keys, along the General Carrera Lake, on the Carretera Austral, I experienced such strong gusts that kept advancing the bike down the winding gravel road. I had a really bad in a given that I stood holding the bike unable to move and unable to get out now. Just uploaded on the bike, holding her and trying not to leave the ground as he passed the burst

There trees grow spilled in the wind direction.

So from my humble experience, here are some tips for motorcycling with wind
  • Do not sell it . Yes, the bike is especially sensitive to wind. Yes, it is a bagpipe. But of course! It's a bike! I do not believe you thought about selling the first day it rained

  • Must gain confidence . Feel normal swings and not be afraid. It is true that you can lose "a little" control, but you will see that the experience and kilometers will give confidence to that feeling is not so intimidating. Trust yourself and the bike. You're not going to fly.
  • Must distinguish between the gusting wind and constant wind . The former is much more dangerous even if it is less intense. Frightens, it requires correct suddenly and can cause your guard between streak and streak. So you have to stay alert. The constant wind is more manageable if its speed comes within reason.
  • You can correct the position on the bike (especially on long straights) and simply go inclined.
  • More traction, less speed . Obviously you have to slow down, and before any abnormal situation or danger. But almost more important than not running is higher laps round. With more traction and responsiveness. Bring your bike live, not to be at the mercy of the wind. Cutting gas is probably the worst thing you can do when you're faced with a run of strong wind. Bring the engine awake gives you a weapon to correct the bike.
  • Watch passing through bridges and tunnels and gorges and valleys enter . Sudden changes in terrain around us can suddenly give us shelter from the wind or take it away. So dangerous it can be to feel a strong wind suddenly feel like stopping suddenly. We must anticipate these jolts and be prepared.
  • Watch much when passi ng or crossing other vehicles, especially trucks . When passing or crossing with other vehicles we assume that will cause turbulence. When crossing with a truck in front, we must unite the wind, which usually cause turbulence. When passing a truck, depending on where the wind comes, we can suffer a strong suction effect at the end of pass or difficulty getting back on track.
  • Other Considerations . Keep in mind that baggage, fairings and companions, make sail effect and enhance the effect of the wind. Carrying a retracted position on the bike, leaving more space with other vehicles ... in short, be more alert.
